New to me

The Trifle dish (is that the right term) on my drop leaf here, was my great grandmother's. I took the photo right after Grandma gave it to me. It isn't fancy or probably valuable, but I love it. I have since filled it with rose potpourri, which smells lovely.
These pictures remind me that I need to get those chair seats redone in the fabric I chose MONTHS ago. It's about time, don't you think?

My grandmother didn't call it anything. (It, too, was my great-grandmother's.) She called its shorter, wider companion a cake-stand. That's amazing--mine is sitting on my kitchen counter right now, while I wonder what to display in it. It was never used to serve food, unlike the cake-stand, although it often had a fruit center-piece in it--especially with grapes dangling gracefully over the edge--the fruit wasn't meant to be eaten at the meal it decorated.

Oh so pretty! I love it.
It will take you about 20 min. to recover those chairs. Just do it!

Love your crystal dish. It looks deep enough that you could serve just about any cold dish in it. A salad would be beautiful.

Am getting caught up on reading my blogs after my mishap! Have lots of time now to as I am ordered off my feet till I go back to Dr Friday.

I love you sweet dish and how precious that it is a family piece! I have one similar and have staked it on top of a large cake plate and either placed a floating flower or 2 in it or even petty salad and cupcakes or slices of cake on bottom cake stand
