Mistreating the bathroom?

After sprucing up the bathroom I decided that I would GET RID of that horrid border (below)that I hated and mistreat the lone bathroom window. I case you are worried I am being mean to the window check out more of Nester's stuff to see what I mean my 'mistreat'.

Here is a lovely view of the window from when we were looking at the house. This was, think the second time I saw the house. They just cut th border to 'fit'... LOL

Here is right before I mistreated. Sadly this 'teal' looks better in pictures than real life. Since the lighting isn't great...I wish you could hate it as much as I did! LOL

Here is my 'first' go. The fabric is thinner than what I would like in a permanent 'treatment', but this is a MISTREATMENT!

I used the existing rod, hot glue, my fabric and ribbon.

Here is my final choice. The thought was to do a 'roman shade' type thing, but in the end I just wanted to cover the ugly and have some 'happy' in the room.

Leaving it oversized and folding it under hidles the window frame's need of trimming out.

My inner perfectionist (IP) about had a heart atack that I was posting this.

I am happy to have my pretty little mistreatment for the time being and knowing how "IP" wants me to do so many things it may be 'not so temporary'.

Oh and as for the 'fold' if you don't like it come iron it. I figure six hot showers and it will be gone! LOL

I hd a few extra flowers from my ribbon so I added them to a hand towel. I can't tell you how happy that makes me...silly but happy.

I hot glued them too! I will sew them on before I wash it, don't worry!

Now, onto other things, I really need to get the spare/craft room unpacked, I mean I have been in the house nearly four months. :P

I am out of control with this card thing...

So I went to Hobby Lobby and looked at 'card stuff' yesterday. Lo and Behold I can make TAGS too! :D This is my first attempt at a tag, it is kind of fun and seasonally appropriate.

Then today I made a birthday card for my friends baby. She turns one this weekend. She is making a Butterfly cake and so I did this.

Here is the tag I made to go with it. For some reason it refused to be photographed without becoming fuzzy. The grass at the bottoms is ruffle and away from the paper and it was FUN!

None of these are perfection, none are expensive, but it is fun and I think she will like them.

I am sure, though that this may become an 'out of control' sort of thing.

I quite like this flower/butterfly combination, though and am picturing some little bunnies and such for Easter cards! One holiday at a time!

More cards than occassions?

I have made ten more cards (or more) making my total about 25 cards in three days, while working and everything else!

I have already mailed three (ones pictured in previous crazy card post).

Gave one monogrammed one to a client, sent one (didn't photograph) to Duncan's classmate for his birthday.

Made one for my son's bus driver to give to her hubby for V-day.

A monogram one for Daryl~ Am hoping I can find someone who is having a girl for this one!

Made this very whimsical, yet simple Valentine!

I also realized I made SEVERAL Thank you cards. Daryl says this says good thinks about me having a grateful spirit, I hope so. However, I think it says I have a compulsive spirit!

This simple and elegant one is my favorite so far!

So I sit around hoping for a reason to send a card, despite being postally challenged.

This one I can hope I will NOT need, but if someone feels badly, I hope this one will cheer them RIGHT up! This is way fun!

Carried Away

I went to Goodwill to look yesterday! (Surprise?) I spend 1.70. I bought a mug for my aunt and a card making kit. The kit was new, but opened and from Target. It was 99 cents! I assumed a few 'bits' were missing and I was right, but MOST of it was there and the main components.
I decided to get it, knowing that ONE card is more than that usually! So, having never really done scrapbooking or self-made cards I figured this was pretty self explanatory.
First, I made a card for a friend, I can NOT show it here, as it is in an envelope and she can't see it on the blog before in person!
Then I made a V'day card for my hubby, ditto to above.
Then I got out some of my tassel clutter and made this for my grandma! This was already two more cards than I had intended to make!

Then I realized I had all my 'stuff' out I may as well make a FEW more! After all, Duncan wouldn't be off the bus for a little while and it was FUN!
So I made another B'day card for another friend. I remembered it was January, but didn't remember it was TODAY....Thank God I got obsessed yesterday! LOL Most of the stuff came in the kits, but I used ribbons and other 'goodies' from my existing stuff. This was when I got carried away. I ended up making 13 of the fifteen cards yesterday! I have already mailed two, have three waiting for closer to appropriate dates and so on.I am sort of glad I got carried away and I wish I had more friends so I could make some more without being excessive!

Oh, and then I got Duncan on the bus this morning and made two final ones! Now I am truly out of cards to make, although I still have thoughts and goodies for when I buy more blank cards. Honestly, if the weather wasn't yucky here I would probably be at Target right now buying more stuff!

This was my final one, for a newlywed couple. I would have liked to do pink or white lettering, but this is what I had!

You think I have lost my mind? Anyone need to buy cards so I have an excuse to make more? LOL

A little silly in my life

My friend Kathy came by today with a broken ornament. It was an applesauce/cinn. ornament her kid made in school. Her kiddo didn't know it had been 'mortally wounded' so she brought it to me for 'fixing'. I glued her head back on, but alas it was an obvious fix. How does one cover a glued on head? With clothes of course!

Now we noticed after making her lovely 'baby doll' dress that she just was a bit 'too shear' for our liking so I made her little cotton panties should she come upon a heater vent when walking about.
The lovely red satin choker and 'diamond' broach cover her decapitation scars. I made a little round piece of paper for Katlyn to color and put her 'face' on. I hope it turns out as fun as her dress. I left the dress plain hoping she would 'bedazzle' it as a third grader should!

So, that was my silly kindergarten fun for the day! I kind of like it!

A bit of fall decoration and an ommission fixed

Despite wanting to pack, I want some 'seasonality' to my house since this is my favorite season. I found the cute silver mirror at Dollar Tree and the silver candle holders for a buck each at Goodwill (surprise surprise). The planter on the left I hand threw back when I took a pottery class. The one on the right I found on clearance a few years ago. They both make me smile. I put little gords, pumpkins and acorns on a tiered tray. I got the pretty crocheted tablecloth at my friend Roxanne's yard sale. (four dollars).
It is a little island I will keep decorated while I pack.
My horrendous OMMISSION was from my "Birthday Blessings" post a few days ago. My good friend Shelly and I have lunch together on Monday's and last week she paid and got me the cutest card and a couple of gifts. I completely spaced putting her gifts on the blog, because in all honesty they were still in my vehicle. The card is a 21 boot salute and with me being a horse girl, how perfect is that? Also a WW cookbook and a points calculator. I know some of you are saying "What kind of pal would get you a diet book?" Well, she is my friend because we met at Weight Watchers meetings. She is actually my leader, my Zumba instructor and first and foremost a funny and great friend.

Yesterday my friend Duda and I went out to see my new house (from the outside), went Goodwilling and to dinner together as a belated b'day celebration. She is on of my horsey friends so she especially wanted to get me 'out' after euthanizing Ruby on Tuesday. We had a great time and she bought me a set of plates at Goodwill I have been eyeballing as my "new everyday" dishes. I already had the bowls, they die like crazy around here! Oddly I got her plates for her 'early b'day gift' a few days ago! LOL
I am blessed with great friends!

Today I went to turn my horses out and saw THIS on the pond and thought I would share the 'moment' with you all! It is a Great Blue Heron, waiting for supper!
